Twisters, one of the year’s biggest movies and the sequel to the 1996 blockbuster, has torn a path from theaters to digital platforms.
From the team behind Jurassic Park, the Bourne series, and Indiana Jones comes a modern-day sequel to the 1996 blockbuster. Directed by Oscar-nominated Lee Isaac Chung (Minari), Twisters promises an adrenaline-pumping experience filled with awe-inspiring visuals and heart-stopping action.
The film stars Golden Globe nominee Daisy Edgar-Jones (Where the Crawdads Sing) as Kate Cooper. Kate is a brilliant scientist haunted by a past encounter with a devastating tornado. Now seeking a safer path, she studies storm patterns from the comfort of her New York City lab. When her friend Javi (Golden Globe nominee Anthony Ramos) calls upon her to test a groundbreaking new tracking system in the heart of Tornado Alley, Kate suddenly finds herself pulled back into the field.
She soon clashes with Tyler Owens (Glen Powell, Top Gun: Maverick). He is a charismatic social media star who leads a daring storm-chasing crew. Tyler thrives on capturing the most dangerous moments of these storms for his online audience, putting himself and his team in constant danger.
As an unprecedented storm season unfolds, unleashing terrifying new phenomena, Kate and Tyler’s paths collide. Forced to work together, they find themselves in the path of multiple converging tornadoes, facing the ultimate fight for survival.
The film boasts an exciting ensemble cast, including breakout stars Brandon Perea (Nope), Sasha Lane (American Honey), and Kiernan Shipka (“Chilling Adventures of Sabrina”). Academy Award winner Maura Tierney (Beautiful Boy) also joins the cast, rounding out this impressive team.
Twisters is directed by Lee Isaac Chung and produced by a powerhouse team, including Oscar nominee Frank Marshall (Jurassic Park, Indiana Jones) and Patrick Crowley (Jurassic Park, Bourne series). The screenplay is by Mark L. Smith, the writer behind the Best Picture-nominated film The Revenant.
