Black Mandala Films has released the first images from its upcoming horror film, “1978“, directed by acclaimed filmmakers Luciano and Nicolás Onetti.
The film made its world premiere at the Marché du Film during the Cannes Film Festival‘s Blood Window Showcase. It is set to make waves on the international festival circuit starting in October.
Set during the intense 1978 World Cup, a group of young people are abducted from their homes by a group acting on behalf of the military dictatorship. Taken to a clandestine detention center, what begins as a horrific interrogation quickly spirals into a terrifying ordeal. The kidnappers have made a tragic mistake. The individuals are not just any group but part of a macabre cult guided by an unknown supernatural force.
“1978” features an impressive cast, including Agustín Pardella (“Society of the Snow”), Carlos Portaluppi (“Argentina 1985”), Mario Alarcón (“The Secret in Their Eyes”). It also features Agustin Olcese (“What the Waters Left Behind”) and Jorge Lorenzo (“El Marginal”). Santiago Ríos (“Tumberos”), and Gustavo Bonfigli (“Wild Tales”). Paula Silva (“Virus 32”), and Gustavo Pardi (“El Marginal”) round out the cast.
