Scream Team Releasing has announced the release of the all-new remake of the 1967 cult classic Spider Baby, written and directed by Dustin Ferguson.
Set in a dilapidated rural mansion, the Merrye siblings (Skylar Fast, Emma Keifer, and Cody J. Briscoe) struggle with a hereditary disease that causes them to regress mentally. Their devoted family chauffeur, Bruno (Noel Jason Scott), watches over them and protects their secrets. When greedy relatives arrive to seize the family’s home, the Merrye children will stop at nothing to defend their house and bloodline.
Featuring appearances by genre favorites Beverly Washburn, Ron Chaney, Robert Mukes, and Brinke Stevens, Spider Baby is a must-watch for fans of horror and cult cinema.
When we asked writer-director Ferguson why he wanted to remake it, he had this to say:
“My unwavering love for the original inspired me to resurrect the beloved Family for a whole new generation. I wanted to pay respect rather than replace, and I think we did just that.”
A remake or reboot of a movie always turns out better when the filmmaker is a true fan. That appears to be the case with Spider Baby. If you have somehow gone without seeing the original, which is creepy as hell, you’re in for a treat; when you get the new Blu-ray, you will also get the original film. And that’s just the first killer special features you will receive.

Since we snagged the exclusive first look at Spider Baby last year, director Dustin Ferguson has announced that he is also working on revamping another classic: the 1959 iconic horror film House on Haunted Hill, which starred Vincent Price. We’ll keep you posted.
