From Peacock comes the new true crime docuseries, “Richard Ramirez: The Night Stalker Tapes,” which delves into the horrifying crimes of the infamous serial killer. The docuseries arrives just ahead of the 40th anniversary of his murderous reign of terror and epic arrest. In the new clip, the killer discusses his satanic interests. Watch it below.

Who is Ricardo Leyva Muñoz Ramirez? He was both a serial killer and sex offender whose killing spree occurred in Greater Los Angeles and the San Francisco Bay Area. Ramirez murdered at least fourteen people during home invasions. The killer, who had a heavy interest in the occult and satanism, was convicted and sentenced to death in 1989. However, he died in 2013 before justice could be carried out. Many believe that the abuse he suffered as a child and the brain damage he received from his drug addiction, which began at the age of 10, made him a killer. He would break into homes to fund his drug addiction. When he would discover unlucky women who were home, he would frequently rape and murder them.

The docuseries features over 25 hours of Death Row audio interviews with Ramirez as well as audio and video interviews with his family, friends, and wife to explore how a perfect storm of child abuse and twisted influences that shaped the troubled young man from El Paso, TX to become the infamous Night Stalker. These tapes offer an unsettling and thought-provoking look into the mind of a brutal serial killer and, by the end of the series, will provide significant findings to the age-old question of whether a monster is born or created – or both.

One of the series’ most intriguing aspects is exploring Ramirez’s relationship with his wife. This former teen magazine editor fell in love with him despite his heinous crimes. The docuseries will delve into the complexities of their relationship and its impact on both of their lives.

NBC News Studios produces the docuseries. The executive producers are Amy Goodman Kass, Elizabeth Fischer, Alexa Danner, Andy Berg, and Liz Cole.

Nearly 40 years after his reign of terror, the myth of the “Night Stalker” still looms large. “Richard Ramirez: The Night Stalker Tapes” promises to be a disturbing yet fascinating exploration of one of history’s most notorious serial killers. It premieres on December 10th on Peacock.
