It seems New York City is about to become the serial killer capital of the world—or at least the world of Paramount+. Dan Stevens is officially heading to the concrete jungle for the second season of “Dexter: Resurrection,” and he isn’t there to see a Broadway show. Stevens joins a cast that is starting to look less like a TV ensemble and more like a tactical strike team of A-list talent.

The New Threat: The Five Borough Killer

Dan Stevens—who recently survived Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire and the neon-soaked dread of Cuckoo—will step into a series regular role as “The Five Borough Killer.” Taking a page out of the Zodiac’s playbook, this new antagonist doesn’t just kill; he taunts. Expect plenty of ominous phone calls to the NYPD and threats against innocent citizens. And because this is the Dexter universe, we know those threats aren’t empty. When he follows through, the city plunges into pure, unadulterated terror.

A “Legends Only” Casting Roster

If Dexter Morgan thought he had his hands full with one new rival, he’s in for a rude awakening. Season 2 is stacking the deck with heavy hitters. So far, we have already reported that Uma Thurman is returning as the badass security officer. Brian Cox has joined as the infamous “New York Ripper,” and of course, it wouldn’t be Dexter without Dexter himself, Michael C. Hall.

The Creative Masterminds

Emmy-nominated showrunner Clyde Phillips continues to steer the ship, executive producing alongside Hall, Scott Reynolds, and Marcos Siega. With a production pedigree from Paramount Television Studios and Counterpart Studios, the stakes for this revival have never been higher.

The Dan Stevens Streak

Stevens is currently on a genre tear. Between leading the upcoming horror anthology The Terror: Devil in Silver and reuniting with director Adam Wingard for Onslaught, he’s becoming the go-to guy for “charming yet deeply unsettling.”

The Bottom Line

Between Brian Cox’s gravitas, Uma Thurman’s lethality, and Dan Stevens’ penchant for playing terrifyingly smart villains, Dexter Morgan is going to need a much bigger roll of plastic wrap.

Season 1 of “Dexter: Resurrection” is available to binge now on Paramount+. Season 2 is currently in development—and the body count is already looking expensive. For a look inside season one, check out our interview with the cast.
