Once in a while, I come across an indie film that truly impresses me, and I find myself thinking about it and its story long after the credits roll. The cult horror thriller The Observance did just that. Featuring a fresh story, one I haven’t seen before (Thank God), the film follows Madison (Kate Dailey). After a tragic accident, Madison is left in a coma. When she does come back, years will have passed, and her family will have changed more than she could ever have guessed. During her coma, her husband and daughter have been sucked into a violent cult. But Madison isn’t giving up without a fight.
As for the film’s cast, Daily is joined by legend Ted Raimi, Alec James, Anna Borchert, Bronson Taylor, Darby Cappillino, Jonathan E. Simmons, and more. The film’s director and co-writer, Rob Hollocks, takes us on a dark journey. I was so impressed by The Observance that I knew I had to sit down with him and pick his brain.
Luckily, he was happy to oblige. In fact, you can watch our interview below. This is not Hollock’s first journey into the horror genre. He is also behind 2024’s Mr. Sleep, a slasher you should totally check out. It’s available now on Prime Video, Hoopla, Fandango at Home, and Apple TV. Check out our interview with Rob Hollocks and follow the film on Instagram and Facebook. And be sure to keep an eye out for more films from this passionate and talented director.
