Paramount Pictures is gearing up for the release of Passenger. This supernatural thriller hails from director André Øvredal. He previously gave us Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark.

Do Not Pick Up Strangers

The story follows a young couple on a van life adventure. Their trip sours after witnessing a fatal car accident. Soon, a demonic stalker begins a relentless pursuit. And this unholy entity is impossible to outrun.

The trailer opens with two friends on a dark highway, then cuts to statistics. Did you know that every year, around 130 million people go on road trips, and over 15,000 are never seen again? That’s a terrifying thought, one that would make some never hit the road again. Next, we see that one friend vanishes during a quick roadside break. This sets a chilling tone for the entire film.

Horror Royalty Behind the Scenes

Øvredal directs from a script by Zachary Donohue and T.W. Burgess. This is André Øvredal’s first horror project since The Last Voyage of the Demeter, which I truly enjoyed.

The cast features some heavy hitters, including Melissa Leo (The Fighter), Lou Llobell (Foundation), and Jacob Scipio (Bad Boys for Life).

Gary Dauberman and Walter Hamada are producing the film. They are the minds behind some of the biggest horror hits. Jenny Hinkey serves as an executive producer.
