The Doctor Will See You Now (And It’s Not for a Checkup)

Djimon Hounsou (A Quiet Place: Day One) may have spent his career playing heroes and stoics, but in Twisted, he’s trading the Hippocratic Oath for something a little more… visceral. Hounsou is joined by Lauren LaVera, who survived Art the Clown in the Terrifier franchise only to find herself in a different kind of nightmare.

The Ultimate Bad Roommate Story

LaVera stars as Paloma, a grifter running a high-stakes real estate scam in the concrete jungle of New York City. Her hustle? Leasing out luxury apartments she doesn’t actually own to unsuspecting marks. The con is working beautifully until she tries to play Dr. Robert Kezian (Djimon Hounsou), a neurosurgeon with a massive apartment and an even bigger God complex. When the doctor catches on, the game doesn’t just flip—it gets flayed. Paloma finds herself captured and subjected to a terrifying, methodical plan. One that demands far more “brain work” than she bargained for.

A Pedigree of Pain

If the plot sounds like it has a sharp edge, look no further than the director’s chair. Darren Lynn Bousman (Saw II-IV, Spiral) is back in his element, directing from a script by Jonathan Bernstein and James Greer (Unsane).

With Saw franchise veteran Mark Burg producing, you can expect the kind of practical effects that would make Jigsaw proud. The film has officially earned its “R” rating for a shopping list of intensity: strong/bloody violent content, gore, sexual assault, and suicide.

A Cast to Die For

The ensemble is a “who’s who” of genre royalty and rising stars. You’ll see Mia Healey (The Wilds), Gina Philips (Jeepers Creepers), and Jacob Lukas Anderson (the rapper Prof). They are joined by Neal McDonough (Minority Report) and Alicia Witt from Longlegs.

Watch Your Head

Twisted aims to be a nasty, stylized descent into obsession and body horror that proves some New York rentals truly are to die for. This gory horror thriller has officially sliced its way onto Digital platforms, including Prime Video, via Republic Pictures.
