If your idea of a relaxing summer involves high-stakes psychological trauma and a cast with more Oscar nominations than a Beverly Hills gala, Apple TV+ has a gift for you. The streamer just dropped the first trailer for “Cape Fear.” The 10-episode limited series proves some grudges don’t have an expiration date.

Led by showrunner Nick Antosca, the series manages a rare “prestige trifecta,” bringing together executive producers Martin Scorsese and Steven Spielberg. You don’t see a lineup of brilliance like this often. Academy Award winner Javier Bardem and Academy Award nominee Amy Adams join them. Bardem and Adams are also starring in this “must-see” series.

 A “Welcome Home” From Hell

Inspired by the 1991 Scorsese remake and the original novel The Executioners, the story follows Anna (Amy Adams) and Tom Bowden (Patrick Wilson). They are happily married, incredibly successful attorneys.

The “storm” arrives in the form of Max Cady (played by a presumably terrifying Javier Bardem). Cady is the notorious killer the Bowdens helped put away. Now that he’s out of prison, he’s not looking for an apology—he’s looking for blood.

A Cast Too Good for Your Blood Pressure

While Bardem, Adams, and Wilson handle the heavy lifting of being hunted and/or haunting, the ensemble cast is equally stacked. You are also getting Joe Anders, Lily Collias, and Malia Pyles. It doesn’t stop there: CCH Pounder, Jamie Hector, and Anna Baryshnikov round out the cast.

The pilot is directed by Morten Tyldum (The Imitation Game), ensuring that the descent into madness looks as gorgeous as it is unsettling.

Legacy of Fear

This isn’t just a simple reboot; it’s a full-circle moment for Hollywood royalty. The series bridges the gap between the 1962 classic starring Gregory Peck and the 1991 De Niro/Scorsese collaboration. With both Spielberg and Scorsese overseeing the project, it’s clear Apple isn’t just aiming for “intense”—they’re aiming for “legendary.”

Coming This Summer

The sun won’t be the only thing bringing serious heat this summer. “Cape Fear” premieres on June 5, 2026. And we can’t wait!

Apple TV+ continues its streak of “prestige hits” with its other new series, “Widow’s Bay,” which just debuted. It is set in a town under siege by supernatural entities, and sees a new mayor trying to make it a travel destination despite the odd happenings.
