If your current pop-culture diet feels a bit too cynical, indie powerhouse Oni Press is about to drop a massive dose of pure, unadulterated dopamine straight into your comic book pull list.
As first revealed by PEOPLE Magazine, Oni Press has officially partnered with Archie Comic Publications to launch a massive publishing initiative. Dropping this fall, the rollout kicks off with a brand-new, flagship ARCHIE #1.
This isn’t just a standard face-lift; it’s an all-star celebration of Archie Andrews’ 85th anniversary, designed specifically as a 21st-century antidote to modern existential dread.
The New Dream Team Takes Over Riverdale
Stepping up to the typewriter for the main title is Ben H. Winters—a New York Times bestselling novelist, Tracker TV showrunner, and Eisner nominee. Joining him are multiple Eisner Award-winning artist Fábio Moon (Daytripper), rising star Nick Cagnetti, and legendary cover artist Stuart Immonen.
The new series follows 17-year-old Archie Andrews—a guy who somehow balances football glory, adoring friends, and an impossibly sunny disposition—as he embarks on a whirlwind adventure through Riverdale’s past, present, and future. The chaos starts at a local film festival, sparking a mystery that only his hamburger-loving pal Jughead Jones can decode.
Oh, and because Oni knows exactly what makes vintage comics great, the issue will be packed with puzzles, pin-ups, and bonus stories.
Writer Ben H. Winters is clearly having the time of his life:
“Archie Andrews is an honest-to-goodness American icon, right up there with Mickey Mouse and Bart Simpson… I’m finding these characters delightful to write, for the same reason people have enjoyed reading Archie lo these many years — Riverdale’s just a fun place to hang out.”
The Full Fall Slate: Magic, Monsters, and Mayhem
Oni Press isn’t stopping with just the boy next door. They are building an entire Riverdale ecosystem this autumn, spanning three distinct genres:
| Launch Date | Title | Creative Team | The Vibe |
| September | ARCHIE #1 | Ben H. Winters & Fábio Moon | Pure teenage idealism, vibrant fun, and a dash of hometown mystery. |
| October | SABRINA THE TEENAGE WITCH #1 | Corinna Bechko & Kano | High school drama meets literal hexes when Salem drops a mythical trickster on her doorstep. |
| November | ARCHIE IN HELL #1 | Patrick Horvath & Tyler Crook | A pitch-black horror saga following in the blood-stained footsteps of Afterlife with Archie. |
The 85-Year Juggernaut Keeps Rolling
This comic book relaunch is just the tip of a massive, ginger-haired iceberg. The partnership between Oni Press and Archie Comics will also yield a new line of compact comic collections and deluxe graphic novels.
And if you need even more proof that Archie is currently dominating the entertainment landscape, keep your eyes on Hollywood. Universal Pictures is currently developing a new live-action Archie feature film, written by Eisner Award winner Tom King and produced by the powerhouse duo of Phil Lord and Christopher Miller (Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse).
The message is clear: Riverdale is officially the place to be this fall. Pack your bags.
