If your summer plans involved a peaceful, off-the-grid hiking trip to “connect with nature,” Cineverse is here to ruin that dream completely. The studio has officially announced that its trap-filled thriller, Pitfall, will debut on Digital and Video-on-Demand this June.
The film first tested audiences’ heart rates at Los Angeles’ Screamfest Film Festival back in October 2025. Then it hit theaters. Now, you can experience the agoraphobic panic from the absolute safety of your couch.
Nature is Also Trying to Murder You.
The official setup is a masterclass in wilderness anxiety. Hunted, isolated, and forced to survive by a sadistic killer’s rules, a group of hikers must escape before the final move is made. The trouble begins when a young man named Scott (Marshall Williams) plunges into an expertly concealed pit trap, leaving him severely injured and immobilized.
As his friends desperately scramble to find cell service or help, they quickly realize they aren’t just dealing with bad luck—the entire forest has been meticulously rigged with calculated, lethal traps. An unseen hunter is watching, testing, and manipulating their every move from the shadows. To make it out alive, the group has to outsmart a predator who is playing chess while they are just trying not to bleed out.
The Cast & Crew
Pitfall features a stellar lineup of genre veterans who know a thing or two about surviving on-screen trauma. The film stars Marshall Williams (The Ice Road), Alexandra Essoe (Midnight Mass), Richard Harmon (Final Destination: Bloodlines), Jordan Claire Robbins (The Umbrella Academy), Matt Hamilton (Turner & Hooch), and literal UFC Champion Randy Couture (The Expendables). Because if you’re going to fight an anonymous woods-slasher, you might as well bring a heavyweight champion.
Behind the camera, the film is directed by James Kondelik (Behind the Walls), who co-wrote the screenplay alongside Victor Rose. Wai Sun Cheng and Alex Bogolomov produced the survival thriller for Pandapix Pictures in a team-up with Dragon Bear Pictures.
Cineverse is Having a Moment
Pitfall is entering a very hot lineup. The Cineverse Motion Pictures Group has been absolutely feeding horror and indie film fans across theatrical, digital, and physical platforms. Following their massive breakout box-office victory with Terrifier 3, their recent theatrical slate has been a nostalgic dream, featuring franchise revivals like The Toxic Avenger, Silent Night, Deadly Night, and Return to Silent Hill.
Grab your digital copy of Pitfall on June 30th, watch your step, and maybe skip the hiking trails until July.
