Dust off your coconuts and polish your spellbooks. The long-awaited trailer for Practical Magic 2 is finally here, and the new trailer is ready to cast a spell on you.

Nearly three decades after the 1998 cult classic, the witchy duo is back to bring a brand-new generation some moonlit mischief, reuniting Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman as the iconic Owens sisters.

The Curse Continues

According to the official synopsis, the Owens sisters must confront a dark ancestral curse threatening to unravel their family once and for all. The trailer kicks off with Aunt Fran delivering some classic wisdom:

“No magic is stronger than sisterhood.”

Set to a haunting cover of “Season of the Witch” by Lana Del Rey, the footage reveals that Sally is still single. Meanwhile, Gillian is desperately trying to jumpstart her sister’s love life.

The real trouble begins with Sally’s daughters. The family fears the generational curse has claimed a new victim. Kylie (Joey King) is happily dating a charming character played by Xolo Maridueña until sudden tragedy strikes. Her quest for answers leads the Owens family straight to a mysterious new character played by Lee Pace.

A Star-Studded Coven

The sequel features an absolutely stacked ensemble cast of original favorites and fresh faces. Dianne Wiest (Aunt Jet) and Stockard Channing (Aunt Frances) return as the Owens’ delightful aunts. The new blood for this sequel includes Maisie Williams and Solly McLeod alongside King, Maridueña, and Pace.

Behind the Magic

The original 1998 film was directed by Griffin Dunne and based on Alice Hoffman’s 1995 novel. It initially received mixed reviews but quickly conjured up a massive, loyal cult following that makes it a spooky season must-watch annually.

This new chapter is based on Hoffman’s 2021 sequel novel, The Book of Magic. Acclaimed filmmaker Susanne Bier directs the sequel, based on the screenplay by heavy hitters Akiva Goldsman and Georgia Pritchett. Bullock and Kidman are double-dipping as producers alongside Denise Di Novi, ensuring the original film’s heart remains perfectly intact.

Get your brooms ready. The Owen sisters return in Practical Magic 2 on September 11, 2026.
