Just when she thought she was out, the Big Apple pulls her right back in. According to Deadline, Krysten Ritter is officially returning to the neon-soaked streets of New York as a guest star for the second season of Showtime’s “Dexter: Resurrection” on Paramount+.

Exactly how she is returning, however, is a massive, blood-splattered question mark. For those keeping track of the body count, Ritter’s Season 1 character, Mia—better known to the true-crime community as the sommelier-by-day, serial-killer-by-night vigilante “Lady Vengeance”—was very thoroughly killed off while behind bars.

But let’s be real: this franchise treats the mortal coil more like a suggestion box. Whether she’s back as a manifestation of Dexter’s fractured psyche, a ghost chilling in a blood-red cardigan, or as a completely unannounced identical twin who suddenly loves pinot noir, your guess is as good as ours. The real mystery isn’t how she’s back, but what kind of absolute chaos she’s about to unleash on our favorite forensic fiend.

A Star-Studded Rogue’s Gallery

Ritter isn’t the only heavy hitter making a grand return. She joins the previously announced Uma Thurman, who is back for Season 2 to reprise her fierce turn as Charley.

If New York felt crowded before, Season 2 is turning the five boroughs into an absolute competitive sport for psychopaths. The spectacular new ensemble cast includes:

-Brian Cox (Succession), stepping into the terrifying shoes of “The New York Ripper.”

-Dan Stevens (Abigail, Legion), playing the delightfully menacing “Five Borough Killer.”

-Bokeem Woodbine (Fargo) as Captain Mixon.

-Nona Parker Johnson (Law & Order) as Fiona Mixon.

The Story So Far

Under the watchful eye of showrunner and executive producer Clyde Phillips, Season 1 of Resurrection kicked off mere weeks after Dexter Morgan (Michael C. Hall) took a casual bullet to the chest from his own son. After waking up from a coma only to find Harrison (Jack Alcott) vanished into thin air, a guilt-ridden Dexter packed up his knives and headed straight for New York City, determined to track down his boy and try his hand at some highly dysfunctional parenting.

While Paramount is keeping the official plot synopsis for Season 2 under a tarp for now, the sheer volume of elite serial killers moving into the neighborhood suggests Dexter is going to have his hands incredibly full.

Produced by Paramount Television Studios and Counterpart Studios, the series is executive produced by Phillips, Hall, Scott Reynolds, Marcos Siega, Tony Hernandez, and Lilly Burns, alongside John Goldwyn, Sara Colleton, Veronica West, Kirsa Rein, Tanner Bean, and Katrina Mathewson. Keep your plastic wrap handy—this next chapter is going to be magnificent.
