If you think your cat is judging you, just wait until you meet the title character of Mary Gallagher’s upcoming psychological nightmare. Breaking Glass Pictures has dropped an absolutely killer new poster and trailer for Mouser, ahead of the film’s official digital launch this July across Amazon, Fandango at Home, Dish, and iNDEMAND.
Aggressively blurring the line between severe hallucination and cold reality, the film follows Eleanor (Romina Valenti), a fragile young woman whose life violently derails after a routine night out triggers a disturbing psychological spiral. Things take a sharp turn for the surreal when she begins having vivid, terrifying interactions with a sinister talking cat named Mouser (voiced by Stephen Moeller). As the talking feline begins to influence her actions in increasingly disturbing ways, Eleanor is pulled into a violent, dream-logic descent where absolutely nothing can be trusted.
A Cat-and-Mouse Game with Sanity
Written and directed by Mary Gallagher, Mouser treats its bizarre premise with a heavy dose of psychological dread, paranoia, and identity fracture.
“I wanted to explore how fear and unresolved trauma can influence our choices. Mouser suggests that our greatest struggles are often internal, and I hope audiences leave questioning how fear can distort and control our lives.” — Writer/Director Mary Gallagher
The film features a strong supporting ensemble including Gavin O’Fearraigh, Michel Biel, Anastasia Lutz, Emma Cat, Maria Abreu, Chris Fisher, David Singleton, and Eugene Gallagher. As Eleanor’s reality fractures completely, the film promises to culminate in a shocking, mind-bending confrontation that proves her nightmare is only just beginning.
Festival Pedigree and Critical Buzz
While a talking cat might sound like the setup for a dark comedy, the industry buzz suggests that Mouser delivers pure independent-horror muscle. The film arrives on digital platforms with plenty of festival momentum. It was an Official Selection at the Indie Vegas Film Festival and walked away with the trophy for Best Original Screenplay at the Marina del Rey Film Festival. The buzz solidified last month following a packed, red-carpet screening at the iconic Lumiere Theater in Beverly Hills.
“Mary Gallagher delivers a fearless psychological horror experience that pulls audiences deep into a fractured reality and doesn’t let go,” said Rich Wolff, CEO of Breaking Glass Pictures. “It’s surreal, provocative, and unforgettable.”
If you’re looking to add a layer of deep, existential dread to your next movie night, mark your calendars for July 14. Just remember to feed your own pets before turning the lights out.
