Horror Dadz Productions and Found TV have released the first official trailer for A Man in the Woods with an Axe, a micro-budget feature from writer-director Dillon Brown that promises to turn the traditional slasher formula completely inside out.
A Subversive Slasher Bait-and-Switch
While it pays homage to beloved 1980s killer movies, the film uses a deliberate bait-and-switch structure designed to catch audiences off guard. What initially presents as a standard cabin-in-the-woods setup gradually devolves into something far more bizarre. Spanning several decades, the story explores a sprawling mystery that reaches well beyond its simple title.
Garage Craftsmanship and $10,000 Practical Magic
Starring Clare Stephenson, Hannah Welty, Michael Rock, and Dustin Tamplen, the production completely eschews CGI in favor of practical gore, physical creature designs, and in-camera visual tricks. Working on a lean $10,000 budget, Brown hand-crafted most of the film’s special effects frame by frame. He studied classic horror sequences frame-by-frame to recreate old-school visual effects techniques.
Streaming Premiere Set for 2027
The newly released teaser trailer offers a peek at the film’s retro aesthetic and claustrophobic atmosphere. It keeps its biggest plot twists closely guarded. A Man in the Woods with an Axe is scheduled to make its exclusive debut on Found TV in early 2027 before expanding to additional streaming platforms.
