FX’s highly anticipated series “Alien: Earth” has officially expanded its Season 2 roster, locking in three major new cast members. Variety reports that Emmy winner Tracey Ullman (The Tracey Ullman Show), Sam Spruell (Fargo, The Settlers), and Jerome Flynn (Game of Thrones, 1923) are all jumping into the cosmic fray.
Production on the second season is already locked and loaded, with cameras officially rolling in London.
A Massive, Star-Studded Ensemble
The trio of newcomers will be stepping onto a battlefield that already includes the previously announced addition, Peter Dinklage. They join a stellar, returning ensemble cast led by Sydney Chandler, Alex Lawther, Timothy Olyphant, and Essie Davis. Babou Ceesay, Samuel Blenkin, and Adarsh Gourav also star. Jonathan Ajayi, Erana James, and Lily Newmark face off with aliens. Adrian Edmondson, David Rysdahl, Moe Bar-El, and Sandra Yi Sencindiver round out the cast.
Familiar Faces in the Hawley-Verse
However, the casting marks a couple of notable reunions. Sam Spruell is a familiar face for Noah Hawley fans. He recently delivered a terrifying, standout performance in the fifth season of Hawley’s critically acclaimed FX anthology series, Fargo.
The additions of Jerome Flynn and Peter Dinklage mean we’re getting an unofficial “Game of Thrones” reunion right in the middle of a corporate nightmare. Flynn famously brought the swagger to Bronn, the ruthless sword for hire who managed to climb the Westerosi social ladder one paycheck at a time. Dinklage, meanwhile, delivered a masterclass as Tyrion Lannister, the razor-sharp black sheep of the realm who used his wit to survive a family that wanted him dead. Though their characters eventually found themselves on wildly opposing sides of the Iron Throne’s military and political chessboard, their electric onscreen chemistry as a cynical mercenary and a scheming court advisor remains a high watermark of the fantasy epic.
While plot and character details are currently being kept under wraps by the studio, one thing is certain. On Earth, everyone can hear FX building one of the most formidable ensembles on television. We’ll keep you posted. In the meantime, catch up or rewatch “Alien: Earth” now on FX or Hulu.
