Nine years ago, Lil Rel Howery gave us the ultimate horror-movie survival wisdom in Jordan Peele’s Get Out. Now, he’s stepping behind the camera for his directorial debut. Enter Haunted Heist, hitting theaters this week. Howery pulls double duty here. He’s directing and starring as one of four estranged friends lured to an ominous estate under the guise of a relaxing vacation.
A Haunted B&E
As it turns out, one of these “friends” is actually using the weekend to hunt down an ancient, incredibly valuable artifact. Effectively forcing the other three into an accidental felony. But the real twist? The crew gets completely blindsided by the mansion’s current residents: a horde of ghosts. However, the ghosts have their own sinister plans for the friends. But if this crew wants to survive a night with the poltergeists, they’re going to have to reconcile their issues real quick.

The cast of this flick features a ton of familiar stars ready to face off with the ghosts. It includes Stephen Blackwell, Tiffany Haddish, Lil Rel Howery, Brett Gelman, Andrew Bachelor, and Ari Dayan.
The Creative Crew
The script was penned by Carl Reid, the horror mind behind Hulu’s Mr. Crocket. To bring the supernatural chaos to life, Howery teamed up with producers Josh Feldman and Sean King O’Grady—the same team behind his dystopian Hulu hit The Mill.
The film’s global sales are being handled by The Coven, the powerhouse distribution label riding high off the massive theatrical success of Terrifier 3. Haunted Heist marks their second major foray into full-scale production.
