Amazon Prime Video is locked and loaded. It has officially given a green light to a brand-new, eight-episode live-action series based on the legendary RoboCop franchise. The project has been brewing since Amazon acquired MGM back in 2022, marking one of the biggest IP revivals to emerge from the studio merger so far.

The Creative Powerhouses Behind the Armor
Amazon isn’t taking any chances with Detroit’s finest. They’ve assembled a stacked creative team to bring Murphy back to the screen. Peter Ocko (Elementary, Lodge 49) will serve as showrunner, writer, and executive producer. Master of horror and blockbuster filmmaker James Wan, alongside Michael Clear and Rob Hackett via Blumhouse Atomic Monster.
Ed Neumeier, co-creator and co-writer of the iconic 1987 original film, returns to executive produce, so you knowit’ss in good hands. Danielle Bozzone will co-executive produce and oversee for Blumhouse Atomic Monster, with Amazon MGM Studios producing.

39 Years of Robo-History
First unleashed by Paul Verhoeven in 1987, the original film starred Peter Weller as Alex Murphy and instantly became a cyberpunk masterpiece. Weller returned for RoboCop 2 (1990), followed by Robert Burke taking over the helm in RoboCop 3 (1993)—with Nancy Allen co-starring across all three as Officer Anne Lewis. A film reboot starring Joel Kinnaman arrived in 2014. Beyond the big screen, the franchise has previously expanded into two animated series, two live-action shows, video games, and comic books.
