If you thought Lestat’s ego couldn’t get any bigger, think again. AMC announced at SDCC’s Hall H panel that “Anne Rice’s Interview with the Vampire” has been officially renewed for Season 4. But here’s the massive news: it’s taking on the legendary title “Anne Rice’s Queen of the Damned.”
The news dropped during a packed panel for the upcoming “The Vampire Lestat“ season. It featured executive producers Mark Johnson and Hannah Moscovitch. Cast members Jacob Anderson, Assad Zaman, Eric Bogosian, and Sheila Atim were also there.
Passing the Torch (and the Crown)
Moscovitch, who penned episodes in the first two seasons and helped shape characters like Akasha and Gabriella, is officially taking the reins as showrunner for Season 4. She’ll executive produce alongside Johnson and series creator Rolin Jones.
“In The Vampire Lestat, Mark, Rolin, Hannah, and this extraordinary cast delivered an unforgettable season filled with propulsive storytelling,” said Dan McDermott, President of AMC Studios. “We can’t wait to continue the journey with Queen of the Damned, one of the most iconic stories in Anne Rice’s mythology, and watch our beloved characters confront Akasha with their world—and ours—hanging in the balance.”
The Road to the Queen
Before Akasha takes her throne, Season 3 (The Vampire Lestat) has unleashed pure rock-and-roll chaos.
The new season follows Lestat (Sam Reid) on a high-octane multi-city tour while haunted by the colorful “muses” of his past. Naturally, as his rock-star stardom explodes, so does his influence over vampires and unsuspecting mortals alike—triggering “The Great Conversion,” a terrifying surge in the global vampire population.

All that noise, power, and chaos eventually wakes up the ultimate ancient terror: Akasha herself, played by Sheila Atim. Consider Season 3 the ultimate opening act for her royal arrival.
