Whether you know him as the lovable Skippy Handelman on NBC’s classic sitcom Family Ties or as Eddie “Ragman” Weinbauer, the heavy-metal underdog who summoned an undead rock god in the 1986 cult favorite Trick or Treat, Marc Price is a certified pop-culture staple. Now, four decades after his metalhead days, Price is stepping back into the supernatural shadows.
Price has officially joined the cast of Witchcraft: The Lanterne of Light. This marks the eighteenth installment in the long-running indie horror franchise that began in 1988.
A Paranormal Investigation Gone Wrong
In The Lanterne of Light, Price stars as Blake. He plays a cynical reporter assigned to tag along with Unmasking the Paranormal. The crew is trekking deep into the North Carolina wilderness. Their target? The legend of the “Lanterne of Light” is an ancient manuscript tied to a cult known as The Children of the Hollow.
Naturally, what starts as a routine ghost-hunting assignment quickly devolves into an unholy fight for survival when the team accidentally unlocks forces far beyond their control.
A Stacked Cult-Horror Ensemble
The film is directed by Carissa Pierson from a script by Andrew Pierson. It pairs Price with an eclectic lineup of genre icons, cult stars, and fan favorites. The ensemble includes Eric Roberts (The Dark Knight, Star 80) and Lisa Wilcox (A Nightmare on Elm Street 4 & 5). Sandy Johnson (Halloween), Kato Kaelin (BASEketball), Kristina Lafser, and Andrew Pierson round out the cast.
“Marc has entertained audiences for decades, and we’re thrilled to welcome him to the Witchcraft family,” said director Carissa Pierson. “He brings a unique energy to Blake, and horror fans are going to love seeing him back in the genre.”
Principal photography is set to roll in North Carolina this fall. Witchcraft: The Lanterne of Light proves that 40 years after Trick or Treat, Marc Price still knows how to handle a nightmare. However, this time, the threat waiting in the woods is far darker than an undead heavy-metal singer.
