If you thought a youth pastor with an acoustic guitar was the scariest thing that could happen on a church retreat, think again. Don’t Move, the upcoming creature feature, pits a pious wilderness trip against an oversized, ancient arachnid, promising a high-octane, web-slinging slaughterhouse.
Adapted from the 2020 bestselling novel by James “Murr” Murray (yes, the guy from Impractical Jokers) and Darren Wearmouth, the film turns a routine Ozark outing into a terrifying game of Red Light, Green Light—with massive, fanged consequences.
Silent, Sightless, and Starving
When a church group’s annual retreat strays off the beaten path in the Ozark woods, members start vanishing. Naturally, the pious finger-pointing begins immediately, with the group placing the blame on Ricky, the local bad-boy troublemaker.
The reality, however, is far more hideous. Deep in the thicket lies a labyrinth of thick webs guarded by a prehistoric, vibration-sensitive giant spider. The creature can’t see its prey; however, it feels every single heartbeat, footstep, and panicked gasp. To survive, the stranded travelers have only one rule: Don’t Move. It falls on Megan (Lyndsy Fonseca) to keep the remaining survivors calm, quiet, and alive long enough to escape the woods.
A Star-Studded Cast of Victims
This wild flick is directed by Maclain Nelson (Vamp U) from the screenplay he co-penned with Murray and Wearmouth. It boasts a wild, genre-blending cast. Lyndsy Fonseca (Kick-Ass), hip-hop artist Russell “Russ” Vitale, and Tom Cavanagh (The Flash) lead the cast. They are joined by Hunter King (Life in Pieces), Rob Riggle (The Hangover), and Joseph Lee Anderson (Young Rock). Keep your eyes peeled for surprise appearances from T-Pain, Matt Biedel, and Murray’s fellow Impractical Jokers partner-in-crime, Brian “Q” Quinn.
Don’t Move marks the maiden voyage for Impractical Studios, a new banner founded by James Murray to adapt his horror novels and bring creature-feature chaos to mainstream audiences. Murray produces the film alongside David M. Wulf (The Card Counter) and Ethan Berman.
So, grab your tickets for the premiere and remember to hold your breath, and don’t forget the bug spray. Don’t Move hits theaters on September 11.
