Richard Madden is now returning to the high-stakes action genre. He is set to headline “Trauma,” a relentless new thriller series. The show has officially been ordered through a unique global co-production deal between Amazon Prime Video and Paramount+, as reported by Variety.
Under the distribution arrangement brokered by Lionsgate Television and 42 Management & Production, Prime Video will air the series exclusively in the U.K. and Ireland. Paramount+ will stream it across all other international territories.
Die Hard Meets the ER
Created and written by Geoff Bussetil (Slow Horses, Scoop, Skins), “Trauma“ drops viewers into a claustrophobic, high-concept hostage crisis.
The series sees armed terrorists storm a bustling London hospital and take the Prime Minister hostage mid-surgery. Former Royal Marines medic turned ER doctor Jim Marchant (Madden) is thrust into the crossfire. Forced to navigate the lockdown floor by floor, Marchant must rely on his combat medical skills and tactical background to wage a deadly war of nerves, strategy, and survival. It’s up to him to save everyone trapped inside.
Daniel Syrkin (Tehran, Mobland) is on board to direct and executive produce. Madden will also serve as an executive producer alongside 442’sBen Pugh and Ben Cavey. Chrissy Skinns (The Baby) produces, with 442’sChris Kennedy co-producing.

However, Madden, who shot to international fame as Robb Stark on HBO’s “Game of Thrones, “is no stranger to pulse-pounding television. He earned a Golden Globe Award for his role as Sergeant David Budd in the BBC/Netflix hit “Bodyguard.”However, he recently led the action-thriller franchise Citadel for Prime Video. His film credits include Marvel’s Eternals, Sam Mendes’ 1917, Rocketman, and Disney’s live-action Cinderella.
