Shudder is giving genre fans a brutal reason to stay indoors this August. The horror streaming platform has locked in the exclusive premiere date for Hellcat, an intense new psychological feature. Directed by filmmaker Brock Bodell, the high-concept thriller plunges viewers into a relentless race against time on the open road. It promises a tight, claustrophobic nightmare built around sensory panic and unraveling reality.

One Hour to Survive the Unimaginable

The story anchors itself on Lena, a woman who regains consciousness trapped inside a moving camper trailer while suffering from a brutal, mysterious injury. Her confusion turns to absolute terror when the vehicle’s driver delivers a grim deadline. They have precisely sixty minutes to find medical intervention before she succumbs to a fate far worse than death. As the physical agony mounts and the highway rolls on, Lena’s perception of her surroundings begins to shatter, blurring the line between physical danger and psychological collapse.

Crafting Tension Behind the Lens

Making his feature directorial debut, Brock Bodell brings a sharp visual instinct to the project after years of editing commercial work and feature films in major creative hubs worldwide. Working from a script he co-wrote alongside Dakota Gorman and Todd Terry, Bodell draws on his affinity for dark, surreal narratives that probe the fragile boundary between dreams and reality, using morally ambiguous characters to drive the tension.

A Powerhouse Ensemble Cast

The film relies heavily on a tight-knit cast to carry its high-wire suspense. Dakota Gorman and Todd Terry pull double duty by starring in the leading roles alongside their screenwriting contributions. The supporting ensemble features notable talent including James Austin Johnson, Liz Atwater, Jordan Mullins, Elise Gilbert, and Janey Ivey, all working together to ratchet up the tension inside the rolling death trap.
