How far would a mother go to fill the void of a lost child? Uncork’d Entertainment is set to answer that chilling question with the release of The Room Below, a psychological creature feature landing on Digital and On Demand this September.

Written and directed by Kurt Martin (Moon Rock for Monday) and filmed on location in Sydney, Australia, the film weaves intimate emotional drama with claustrophobic horror.

A Second Chance With Deadly Consequences

The narrative follows a woman (Alyssa Sutherland) haunted by the tragic loss of her son. Her life takes an unsettling turn when a young boy appears at what seems like the perfect moment. Seeing a second chance to be a mother, she takes him in. However, her domestic reset is overshadowed by a growing, dangerous entity lurking beneath her home. Soon, the creature becomes increasingly hostile and uncontrollable. A retired detective (Jonathan Rhys Meyers) begins to pull at a thread of secrets that leads directly to her property. This drives everyone toward a violent reckoning.

A Proven Genre Cast and Top-Tier Creature Craft

The Room Below brings together strong physical performers known for intense genre work. Alyssa Sutherland, coming off her praised turn as the main Deadite in Evil Dead Rise and her work in “Vikings”, stars alongside Golden Globe winner Jonathan Rhys Meyers (The Tudors, Velvet Goldmine). The supporting cast includes Bobby Gilchrist (Shapeless, The Invisible Raptor) and Gilbert Bradman (Transfusion, The Twelve).

Practical FX and Psychological Thrills

To ensure the central monster delivers genuine chills, the production tapped the Makeupp Effects Group, the acclaimed Australian special makeup studio behind standouts like Talk to Me and Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga. Their craft ensures The Room Below balances grounded psychological tension with a genuinely unsettling creature design.

So, get ready. The Room Below is coming home on Digital and On Demand on September 1.
