Steven Yeun is returning to Netflix to headline the network’s highly anticipated supernatural drama, “Pagans.” Following a competitive bidding process last year that resulted in a straight-to-series order, the series is officially moving forward. And Yeun will star in the lead role, Variety reports.
A Father’s Descent into the Sinister
The narrative centers on a grieving father. He suddenly finds himself the sole caretaker of his two children following the tragic death of his wife. His son appears to be an ordinary child. However, his daughter, Alice, represents a profound departure from the norm. The story explores the unraveling of their already strained relationship, as it quickly shifts from domestic tension to something far darker and supernatural.
Creative Powerhouses Behind the Lens
“Pagans“ is spearheaded by Joshua Zetumer, the creator of “Say Nothing,” who serves as both showrunner and executive producer. The production features a formidable behind-the-scenes team, with Drew Goddard and Sarah Esberg executive producing through Goddard Textiles. Jonathan van Tulleken and Erica Kay will also executive produce. Steven Yeun and Christina Oh will executive produce on behalf of Celadon Pictures.
Yeun’s Continued Success on the Small and Big Screen
This role marks a high-profile reunion for Yeun and Netflix, following his award-winning performance in the hit series “Beef.” His work on the show earned him both an Emmy and a Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Limited Series. The series itself also won an Emmy. His history with Netflix also includes The Rip and Bong Joon-ho’s Okja. Yeun also lends his voice to the animated series “Tuca & Bertie” and Amazon’s “Invincible.” Yeun made a name for himself on the series “The Walking Dead” as Glenn. Fans remain traumatized by the brutal death of his character at the hands of Negan.
