Epic Pictures and its genre-specialty label, Dread, have officially released the maiden trailer for Devour, an unhinged supernatural horror feast from Bad Candy director Scott B. Hansen and writer Desiree Hansen.
Devour mixes heavy metal riffs, neck-snapping vampires, flesh-munching cannibals, a furry werewolf, and a rogue warlock into one chaotic nightmare. The film promises a wild night where the lead singers throw down harder than the monsters.
This balls-to-the-wall gorefest stars a talented cast featuring KateLynn E. Newberry, Gus Langley, and Alex Lucchesi. Chelsea LeSage, Gaven Wilde, and Butcher Babies frontwoman Heidi Shepherd round out the cast.
Riffs, Teeth, and Warlocks: The Ultimate Gig from Hell
The story follows an all-female heavy metal band stranded in the middle of nowhere after a disastrous, soul-crushing gig. However, their evening goes from bad to apocalyptic when they try to rescue a distressed stranger. This, however, inadvertently traps them in a bizarre, remote town ruled by a dark warlock. Surrounded by supernatural predators, they must unleash their own dark magic to shred their way out before sunrise.
Old-School Practical Creature FX Take Center Stage
Rather than relying on glossy digital magic, Devour brings its rogue’s gallery of monsters to life with old-school, practical effects, prosthetics, and animatronics. Wayne Anderson, a “Face Off” finalist whose work includes “Stranger Things” and “IT: Chapter One,” is creating the magic. He’s partnered with the OX FX crew to create physical, bloody beasts. Ones that share actual set space with the cast. Combined with Hansen’s extensive music background, directing music videos for heavyweights like Meshuggah, the film creates a visceral world where metal culture and monster movies collide head-on.
Festival Favorite Cleans Up Award Circuit Ahead of Premiere
Devour arrives on streaming and big screens with serious genre momentum. The film has racked up over a dozen festival selections and taken home multiple top honors. It took home the trophy for Best Feature, Best Director, and Best Vampire Feature at the Freakshow Horror Film Festival. It also earned official selections at the Atlanta Horror Film Festival and Days of the Dead. The praise doesn’t stop there. It scored a vocal endorsement on Chris Jericho’s “Talk Is Jericho” podcast.
