With the premiere of the anticipated new supernatural Disney+ series Coven Academy today, we sat down with star Cecilia Deacon. She took us inside the show’s dark, magical universe. Created and executive produced by Tim Federle, the series stars Malina Weissman (A Series of Unfortunate Events), Malachi Barton, Devon Sawa, and Tiffani Thiessen.
Cecilia Deacon (Charmed, Altered Carbon) also stars, returning to magic after roles in series like “Charmed” and “Riverdale.” Deacon plays Mary. Her mysterious passing catalyzes the entire series. Her sarcastic, New York-born daughter, Briar (Weissman), attends the mysterious Crescent Veil school. Through haunting flashback sequences, Deacon delivers a standout performance that anchors the story’s overarching mystery.
An Ontario native, Deacon brings a versatile background spanning classical stage work, modeling campaigns, and memorable roles across network television and film. Ahead of the show’s arrival on Disney+, Deacon gives us an insider’s look at bringing the enigmatic world of ” Coven Academy” to life.
