The action thriller Your Mother Your Mother Your Mother expands into wider theaters this week. To celebrate the expanding rollout, Amazon MGM Studios released a new clip titled “Just Here to Get Milk for My Baby“. Additionally, fans received a behind-the-scenes featurette titled “Genre-bending Mission” exploring the film’s unique tone.
A Hitman’s Relentless Journey
Written and directed by Bassam Tariq, the film stars Mahershala Ali as a devoutly religious assassin. However, following the tragic death of his wife, the killer fights across Houston to protect his children. As a result, the intense story weaves profound existential grief with visceral close-quarters combat. The physically demanding role marks an exciting departure for Ali, who trades quiet drama for heavy artillery.
Pivoting Away from Marvel Production Delays
The project’s origin makes its successful release exceptionally satisfying for action cinema enthusiasts. Marvel Studios originally hired Tariq to direct Ali in their upcoming Blade reboot. However, Tariq exited the production amidst prolonged studio setbacks and scheduling issues. Rather than sitting in development limbo, the director and star united independently to create a grounded thriller.
Supporting Cast and Mystifying Characters
The supporting ensemble includes an impressive roster of talent. Giancarlo Esposito, John Cho, Tramell Tillman, and Tiffany Boone lead the supporting cast. Furthermore, the lineup features talent such as Abubakr Ali, Laith Nakli, Adia, and Jahleel Kamara. Pairing these acclaimed actors creates high-stakes, dynamic encounters.
Your Mother Your Mother Your Mother is now playing in theaters and will expand to more theaters on October 16. Get your tickets now. Watch the clip and featurette below, and to get a sense of the movie, watch the opening scene here.
