Few Halloween traditions match the enduring popularity of The Simpsons’ annual Treehouse of Horror specials. Fans eagerly anticipate this seasonal terror every single year. As a result, viewers get an exciting double dose of Springfield frights this October. Fox released Treehouse of Horror Presents: The Revengening on Sunday, October 18.  Meanwhile, Treehouse of Horror XXXVII premieres this weekend on Sunday, October 25.

Stop-Motion Terror

Fans are already talking about it. Specifically, the cornerstone segment pays tribute to The Nightmare Before Christmas. Animators painstakingly reimagined Springfield using hand-sculpted puppets and cardboard sets. This impressive stop-motion sequence opens the main special with spooky, nostalgic music. We’ve got the opening and a behind-the-scenes video for the segment (below).

Body Swaps and High-Stakes Driving

In another segment, a boy and his dog’s bond reaches a terrifying breaking point. Specifically, a freak accident forces Bart and Santa’s Little Helper into a bone-chilling body swap. Forced to navigate life on all fours, Bart must quickly reverse the curse. Otherwise, his mischievous canine will ruin his life completely.

The episode also includes Marge discovering her backyard shed has supernatural, multi-dimensional properties. The shed generates a surreal lineup of new husbands, giving Marge a wild perspective on matrimony.

Meanwhile, the final segment parodies high school driver safety instruction videos. Homer finds himself trapped inside a deadly instructional driving tape that comes to life. Navigating terrifying traffic instructors turns getting behind the wheel into a struggle for survival.

The Premiere

Tune in for the highly anticipated installment, Treehouse of Horror XXXVII, on Sunday, and watch the special Treehouse of Horror Presents: The Revengening now streaming on Hulu and Disney+.
