We have great news for fans of The Strain, Guillermo del Toro’s vampire series has been renewed for season 3! Eric Schrier and Nick Grad, the presidents of Original Programming for the FX network, announced the news today.
From the Press Release:
“Guillermo and Carlton have delivered two thrilling seasons of The Strain that are captivating and visually arresting, doing justice to the original novel trilogy and meeting fan’s high expectations in the process.” Schrier continued “We’re excited to see them carry this powerful story into a third season on FX.”
The series is currently in the middle of it’s second season and will return with season 3 next summer. This season New York is in a downward spiral. The strigoi (vampires) are spreading and the Master is growing stronger. As Dr. Ephraim (Cory Stoll) and Dr. Nora Martinez (Mia Maestro) struggle to find a virus that will strike down the strigoi. Their allies, Fet (Kevin Durand), Dutch (Ruta Gedmintas) are taking a more direct approach. Then there is Abraham Setrakian (David Bradley), who has vowed to kill the Master or die trying. Of course killing the Master is easier said than done, Eichorst won’t let that happen without a fight. Things are complicated by the fact that Eph’s son is with the group, and being a handful, and his mother, who is a strigoi is hunting them down. Gus is representing “The Ancients” in this battle. Together they may just find away to save themselves and the city.
Congratulations to the cast and crew of The Strain! The show is fantastic! I can’t wait to see where this season and the next take us.
