It’s officially Halloween season, and Spirit Halloween is celebrating with their brand new Spirit Halloween Monopoly board game which is available now. This no regular, boring game of Monopoly, no. It’s based on the store that is as iconic to the holiday as ghosts and ghouls.
In the box, featuring the company’s logo, you will find player pieces, that I’m guessing are made of pewter. They are in the form of a spider, a cat, a coffin, a pumpkin, and the Spirit Halloween spirit. Like the standard game, you will find cash ($10 to $500). There are also buildings, and “Trick” cards that let you buy things like costumes, but beware, there are Trick cards that put the trick in trick ‘r treat. These cars can make you do things like go back spaces. There are also Treat cards that feature cool surprises. The board and pieces really give you the sense that you are in the store.
The board itself is thick, meaning that it will last through many high-spirited games. I do wish that the money was a better weight. It’s thin which means it may not last long. I wouldn’t be surprised if they will be selling replacement cash soon. As for the buildings and dice, they are plastic and well made.
I grew up on Monopoly. I’ve owned numerous versions of the game, but this one feels special. I mean it’s not Halloween without Spirit Halloween. The fact that you can play it year around is real bonus, giving you a taste of your favorite holiday whenever you want it. I would highly recommend getting one.
The game itself is easy to play and I had a lot of fun playing it. I’m sure the more players you have, the more fun it would be, so grab a game, call your friends or family, get some snacks and have a killer game night!
