Fans of HBO’s hit series “The Last of Us” have been eagerly awaiting updates on its second season. While season 2 isn’t set to premiere until 2025, a first look at the cast has been revealed.
During the Warner Bros. Discovery Upfront presentation, HBO and Max Content chief Casey Bloys unveiled new cast members who will join returning stars Pedro Pascal (Joel) and Bella Ramsey (Ellie).
Kaitlyn Dever takes on the role of Abby, a pivotal character from the game’s narrative. Joining Dever are Isabela Merced as Dina, a love interest for Ellie, and Storm Reid’s younger brother, Young Mazino, as Jesse. Familiar faces from season one, Gabriel Luna (Tommy) and Rutina Wesley (Maria) will also be returning.
The cast is further bolstered by Ariela Barer (Mel), Tati Gabrielle (Nora), Spencer Lord (Owen), and Danny Ramirez (Manny). The legendary Catherine O’Hara will also grace the screen with a guest star appearance.
“The Last of Us” is the brainchild of Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann, who serve as both writers and executive producers. Based on the beloved PlayStation video game, the series takes viewers on a harrowing journey through post-apocalyptic America. Joel, a hardened smuggler, is tasked with escorting Ellie, a teenager immune to a deadly infection, out of a quarantine zone. Their bond deepens as they face unimaginable challenges.
Season one of “The Last of Us” shattered records, becoming HBO’s most-watched debut season ever. With a talented cast and a captivating story, it’s no surprise fans are eagerly awaiting season two. Bella Ramsey, already a fan favorite from “Game of Thrones,” assures fans that the wait will be worth it.
“The Last of Us” season two will debut on HBO and HBO Max in 2025. In the meantime, check out the newly released images featuring the series’ stars, Bella Ramsey and Pedro Pascal.
