The summer has just begun, and Prime Video is already heating up. We’ve got some hot news for gaming and TV fans! Hot off the heels of their release of the mega-hit series adaptation of “Fallout,” which has already been renewed, the streaming giant has its sight set on another game adaptation. We’re talking about “Like A Dragon: Yakuza!”

Prime is diving into Japanese organized crime with the upcoming live-action series “Like a Dragon: Yakuza.” Here’s the thing: we are not talking about some adaptation coming late next year; it’s set to premiere this Fall!

“Yakuza: Like a Dragon” brings back the iconic Kazuma Kiryu, the legendary “Dragon of Dojima,” played by actor Ryoma Takeuchi. The series offers a fresh perspective, serving as an original story set between 1995 and 2005. It delves into the lives and consequences faced by Kiryu and those around him. This show promises to be a thrilling exploration of the Yakuza universe.

The Yakuza franchise is renowned for its explosive action. “Like a Dragon” delves deeper and showcases Japanese culture. Expect everything from high-octane brawls to quirky side missions exploring real estate laws and racing!

The games aren’t afraid to embrace the strange and wonderful. From menacing clowns hawking weapons to office workers sporting diapers, the franchise revels in the unexpected. “Like a Dragon” seems poised to capture this same spirit, seamlessly blending action with the bizarre for a killer experience.

At the heart of “Like a Dragon: Yakuza” lies Kazuma Kiryu, a fearsome yakuza warrior with a reputation for unmatched strength. Kiryu is a complex character. Despite his imposing presence, he possesses a surprising depth of compassion. An orphan himself, Kiryu runs an orphanage, showcasing his big heart and unwavering loyalty to those he cares about.

Some may be surprised to learn that Kiryu will be back, considering series creator Toshihiro Nagoshi previously stated his story was complete. “Like a Dragon’s” focus on Kiryu is a welcome return for fans, with fresh elements woven into the narrative.

So when will you be able to enter the world of “Like a Dragon: Yakuza?” The answer is October 25, 2024! Here’s a look at the game trailer to whet your appetite.

If you’re looking to sink your teeth into another killer series that explores Japanese culture, we highly recommend “Shōgun,” which we called a “must-see” in our spoiler-free review.
