Not long before its season one finale, “Twisted Metal” announced that it would return for a second action-packed season. News is starting to trickle in.

Deadline reports that “The Walking Dead” actor Michael James Shaw has joined the cast of Peacock’s action comedy, inspired by the hit video game. There is no word yet on who he will play.

The series follows the adventures of Joe (Anthony Mackie) as he navigates a post-apocalyptic wasteland. The show has been praised for its blend of humor, action, and over-the-top characters. Alongside Mackie, the second season will see returning stars like Stephanie Beatriz, Joe Seanoa, and Will Arnett. Newcomers Saylor Bell Curda and Lisa Gilroy will co-star.

Season 2 reportedly dives headfirst into the heart of the “Twisted Metal” universe: the tournament itself. Showrunner Michael Jonathan Smith (“Cobra Kai”) promises a season built around this iconic event, ensuring an explosive season that fuels the ultimate showdown. Season two will further delve into the journey of John Doe (Anthony Mackie), a milkman who embarks on the “Twisted Metal” competition for a chance at a better life. Allies and adversaries will join him. Watch as John Doe, “Quiet” (Stephanie Beatriz), and Scream star Neve Campbell navigate the brutal arena of vehicular combat.

Buckle up for an explosive cocktail of action! Smith teases the prospect of seeing established characters collide in a crucible of competition. Imagine the witty banter, the unexpected alliances, and the blood-pumping clashes—it’s a recipe for explosive entertainment.

After being Peacock’s most-watched exclusive comedy series of 2023, “Twisted Metal” season 2 promises to be a victory lap for fans, a high-octane spectacle for newcomers, and a testament to the enduring power of vehicular mayhem.
