Fasten your life vests and secure your tray tables, shark enthusiasts. The survival thriller Deep Water is officially ready to plunge you into an absolute worst-case scenario.
Directed by action maestro Renny Harlin (Die Hard 2, Cliffhanger), this high-octane adventure boasts a stellar cast led by Golden Globe nominee Aaron Eckhart and Academy Award winner Sir Ben Kingsley. The duo is officially reuniting for the first time since the 2004 serial killer thriller Suspect Zero.
The Crash is Just the Beginning
Imagine an international flight plummeting from the sky and crash-landing perfectly into shark-infested waters. As the fuselage begins to flood, panic surges among the surviving passengers. They are trapped inside a sinking metal tomb surrounded by hungry predators. To make it out alive, this highly mismatched group must overcome their differences and work together to escape the ultimate underwater death trap.
A Director’s Childhood Dream Comes to Life
For director Renny Harlin, bringing this wet-and-wild disaster to life is a deeply personal milestone. He admits he has been chasing this exact kind of epic canvas ever since he was a kid sitting in a movie theater in Finland.
“Deep Water offered me an epic canvas to work on, which I’ve dreamed of since seeing the original The Poseidon Adventure as a kid. My superb cast stood by my side valiantly through a rigorous shoot of barrel-rolling planes, tidal waves of water, and ferocious sharks. This film is my tribute to all the action, imagination, emotion, and beauty that made the movie the first love of my life. I can’t wait to show audiences worldwide what an emotional rollercoaster we have created.”
The Crew, The Cast, and a Rock God
Surviving the buffet alongside Eckhart and Kingsley are Molly Belle Wright, Angus Sampson, and Kelly Gale.
Perhaps the most surprising masterminds behind the camera are KISS rock legend Gene Simmons and industry veteran Gary Hamilton. The duo joined forces to launch Simmons/Hamilton Productions, the powerhouse behind the film.
Between a legendary action director, an Oscar-winning cast, and a rock god funding the carnage, Deep Water is shaping up to be a mandatory plunge for action and creature-feature fans alike. Dive into Deep Water now on Digital and VOD.
