If you thought it was safe to go back into the patch, think again. Tubi is officially doubling down on seasonal gateway horror with R.L. Stine’s Pumpkinhead 2. A direct follow-up to the 2025 feature adaptation of the iconic episode from Stine’s anthology series The Haunting Hour, this delightfully spooky horror-comedy is set to invade the free streaming platform just in time for Halloween.
The sequel centers on Evan, a stressed-out student dealing with a ruthless pack of bullies. Desperate for a solution, he accidentally unearths a forbidden spellbook that revives an ancient curse over his hometown of Redhaven. Naturally, this causes the demonic, pumpkin-headed children of previous sacrifices to claw their way out of the dirt. And they are eager to claim the entire town during its annual Harvest Festival. Redhaven’s absolute last hope lies in the return of a vengeful witch who is dead-set on destroying the book for good.
The Master of Children’s Nightmares Weighs In
For children of the ’90s and modern horror fans alike, the return to R.L. Stine’s wonderfully twisted sandbox is cause for celebration.

Behind the camera, the creative pieces are safely in place. Director and writer Jem Garrard (Slay) is officially returning to helm the sequel, ensuring the follow-up retains the same energetic, monster-heavy DNA as the original.
While full casting details for the sequel’s monsters are still being locked in, the franchise already has a legendary pedigree in physical horror. The first film famously utilized the jaw-dropping talents of premier creature performer Troy James, who is responsible for haunting your dreams in Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark, Hellboy, and Channel Zero. If the sequel brings even half of that physical, practical magic to the screen, we are in for a treat.
