The Final Destination franchise is gearing up for a fresh, or, rather, a past start. Final Destination 6: Bloodlines is taking a bold new direction, venturing into the past with a prequel.
Today, the first trailer was unleashed. It gives fans a taste of the brutal kills by death’s design, something the franchise is iconic for. In it, we see things go terribly wrong in a tattoo parlor. It may leave you rethinking nose rings forever.
Set in a dual timeline narrative, it begins in the 1960s. A woman predicts the collapse of a building, saving a group of people. Decades later, her granddaughter begins to have visions of her family’s death.
Final Destination: Bloodlines is directed by Adam B. Stein and Zach Lipovsky. The cast includes Brec Bassinger, Kaitlyn Santa Juana, Teo Briones, Rya Kihlstedt, Anna Lore, and Richard Harmon. Adding to the intrigue, the late Tony Todd will make a posthumous appearance, reprising his role as the eerie mortician William Bludworth.
Bloodlines‘ multigenerational storyline genuinely attempts to inject new life into the franchise. However, with a mostly new cast and a 14-year gap since Final Destination 5, the film has the potential to attract a new generation of viewers who may have missed the original saga.
When Final Destination: Bloodlines opens in theaters on May 16, 2025, be prepared for death’s design to continue.
