Among the most anticipated upcoming shows is Peacock’s “Crystal Lake,” a prequel series that delves into the origins of the Friday the 13th franchise. Despite facing some production hurdles and a whole lot of delays, the series is now moving ahead.

Jason’s Mother Has Been Cast

A crucial piece of the puzzle has fallen into place: the casting of Jason’s mom, Pamela Voorhees. Linda Cardellini, known for her versatile roles in “Dead to Me” and Avengers, has signed on to star as Pamela.

According to Deadline, “Crystal Lake” will explore Pamela Voorhees’ backstory as a mom who sacrificed a promising career to care for her son, who had special needs. The first season will delve into the tragic event that led to her descent into darkness..

For those of you who have been living under a rock somewhere and are unfamiliar with the Friday the 13th lore, Pamela Voorhees is the original antagonist of the franchise, which debuted in 1980. She is the franchise’s original killer, not Jason.
