Fresh off the wildly successful theatrical debut of Insidious: Out of the Further , director Jacob Chase is already locking in his next terrifying chapter.
Chase has officially signed on to helm Sleepover. It’s an ambitious new horror feature coming from Universal Pictures, Blumhouse, and Atomic Monster. The project marks another massive leap forward for the acclaimed filmmaker. It solidifies his status as one of the most exciting creative forces working in the genre today.
A Dream Team of Horror Storytellers
Chase will direct Sleepover. He co-wrote alongside Bryce McGuire, the writer-director behind Blumhouse’s Night Swim. The feature is adapted from an original short story penned by McGuire. By combining Chase’s proven talent for high-tension cinematic scares with McGuire’s knack for twisting innocent, everyday scenarios into terrifying nightmares, this creative collaboration promises a fresh and deeply unsettling take on the classic slumber party premise.
Heavyweight Producers and Industry Support
Horror titan Jason Blum will produce the feature for Blumhouse. Jacob Chase, Bryce McGuire, and Bea Sequeira are serving as executive producers. Lilly Tyson will oversee the development and production. Presented as a Cinescape Entertainment production in partnership with Universal Pictures, Atomic Monster, and Blumhouse, Sleepover carries immense backing from the biggest powerhouses in modern genre cinema.
Chase continues to be represented by CAA, Gang, Tyre, Ramer, Brown & Passman, and The Initiative Group. Gersh and Ziffren Brittenham represent McGuire.
So, when can horror fans expect Sleepover? We’ll have to wait a while. The release is set for October 8, 2027. However, with this much talent involved, it will be worth the wait.
