We’ve got good news for fans of Scooby and the gang! Netflix has confirmed that production has wrapped on the live-action series, “Scooby-Doo: Origins,” set to hit screens globally in 2027.

Forget the CGI abominations of the early 2000s. This origin story marks a historic franchise first. A real-life Great Dane pup plays Scooby. Netflix has now dropped an adorable wrap photo of the good boy (below) to mark the occasion. And he’s adorable.

The gang itself is packed with rising stars. Maxwell Jenkins (Lost in Space) steps up as Fred, Tanner Hagen (The Pitt) brings the ultimate slacker energy as Shaggy, and Abby Ryder Fortson (Ant-Man) dons the glasses as Velma. Rounding out the core four is genre favorite Mckenna Grace (Scream 7), who takes the wheel as Daphne.
A Stalked, Star-Studded Guest List
However, beyond the core squad, the supporting cast reads like a wonderfully stacked fever dream. The mystery-solving crew will share screen time with heavy hitters including Paul Walter Hauser, André Benjamin (aka André 3000). Cathy Moriarty, Bruce McGill, Sara Gilbert, and Rusty Schwimmer co-star. The ensemble is rounded out by Peter Macon, Jona Xiao, Dani Deetté, and Elysée Sanvillé.

Showrunners Josh Appelbaum (Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol) and Scott Rosenberg (Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle) are steering the ship. Meanwhile, director Toby Haynes (Andor, Black Mirror) is setting the tone behind the camera for the premiere chapter of the eight-episode season.
