Shudder and AMC+ have dropped a chilling first look at V/H/S/Mixtape, the ninth entry in the legendary found-footage franchise, set to premiere this Halloween season. This time, though, the series cranks the volume all the way up. The anthology uses music, rhythm, and auditory obsession as the source of pure horror. Following the record-breaking success of 2025’s V/H/S/Halloween, the new film weaponizes sound. It will deliver a chaotic mix of cosmic dread, psychological suspense, outrageous splatter, and groundbreaking practical effects.

Indie Heavyweight Mike Ferguson Teams with Ernest Dickerson

The film features a segment directed by genre legend Ernest Dickerson (Tales from the Crypt: Demon Knight, The Walking Dead). Dickerson brings his masterclass vision of dread to an audio-centric nightmare starring powerhouse actor Mike Ferguson. Known for his intense screen presence, Ferguson brings a raw energy to the project. This marks an exciting collaboration between a veteran master and one of modern indie horror’s most hardworking stars.

A Stacked Lineup of Visionary Directors

Beyond Dickerson’s headlining chapter, V/H/S/Mixtape features an incredible roster of filmmakers behind the camera. Wu-Tang Clan mastermind RZA (The Man with the Iron Fists) delivers a rhythmically driven descent into madness. At the same time, Avid Moreau (Ils) brings his signature high-tension pacing to the table. And award-winning director Renee Zhan (O Black Hole!) also helms a visually stunning segment featuring terrifying creations brought to life by the legendary Jim Henson’s Creature Shop.

Metal Legends and Hypnotic Interludes

Transforming the anthology into a full-blown horror concept album, acclaimed musician and director Flying Lotus provides hypnotic music video interludes to weave the stories together. Grammy-winning Ghost frontman Tobias Forge will be making his directorial debut with a haunting music video segment. And get this, shock-metal icons GWAR are making a special appearance to supply their signature brand of blood-soaked chaos.
