Wells is best known for his unforgettable turns in The Road Warrior, Commando, and Weird Science. He has now officially signed on to Witchcraft: The Lantern of Light. Wells will be pulling double duty on the project as an executive producer and star.
A Career Defined by Iconic Cult Hits
For fans of action, sci-fi, and cult cinema, Wells’ arrival brings immense genre pedigree to the long-standing horror brand. The Australian actor made his breakout role as the unhinged punk marauder Wez in 1981’s The Road Warrior. He then played the chainmail-clad villain Bennett against Arnold Schwarzenegger in 1985’s Commando. He also made memorable appearances in Weird Science and Innerspace. Wells joins a stacked cast that blends mainstream veterans with celebrated horror royalty. Oscar nominee Eric Roberts (The Dark Knight) steps into the role of Professor Churchill. A Nightmare on Elm Street franchise star Lisa Wilcox plays Detective Garner. Directed by Carissa Pierson, Witchcraft: The Lantern of Light aims to push the long-running franchise toward a darker, more atmospheric tone. The plot centers on a team of paranormal investigators. They stumble onto the terrifying secrets of the Children of the Hollow, a centuries-old cult linked to an ancient, titular manuscript.
Production Timeline and Release Plans
With creative momentum building and its central cast locked in, the production team is preparing to take the cameras into the field shortly. Principal photography is officially scheduled to kick off this October 2026 across locations in North Carolina. The completed feature is targeting a global premiere in 2027.
