Co-writers, directors, and producers Hana Mae Lee (Pitch Perfect) and Hal Satin have unveiled the debut trailer for their metal horror fairy tale Magic Mtn.
The film premieres at Fantastic Fest before launching nationwide this Halloween season. Blending dark occult aesthetics, goth subculture, and surreal folklore, the atmospheric teaser offers a vivid preview of a movie built on ghostly specters, wicked curses, and heavy metal subversion.
Three Intersecting Fables Bound by an Occult Spell
Guided by a ghoulish narrator named Lord Mmorke, the narrative weaves together three distinct fables. All collide within a realm beyond tangible reality. The intersecting stories trace a Deathrock squatter imprisoned by a sadistic psychiatrist while facing the horrors of regret. You also see a pair of criminal plumbers. They are descending toward the gates of Hell across the beer-soaked backdrop of the Sunset Strip. There’s also an ambitious architect who builds his future on a Faustian pact with the Devil. As the tales unfold, the narrative transitions from a dark story anthology into an active spell cast upon the characters and the audience.
Heavy Metal Icons and Atmospheric Score Anchor the Ensemble
The film features an ensemble cast that includes Ashton Hirota, Monica Lamela, Jose Herrasti, and Jae Lee. Miriam Ataya, Ron Reihel, Ben Price, Daniel Adkins, Ozmodeus Le Preem, and Jane Dough round out the cast.
Music plays a fundamental structural role in establishing the movie’s hypnotic terror, anchored by a soundtrack that features tracks and archival audio from deathrock and occult figures, including Eva O, Super Heroines, Rozz Williams, Voyeur, Resist and Exist, and Aleister Crowley.
Magic Mtn. will be unleashed nationwide on October 13th, 2026, following its Fantastic Fest debut. Get ready for a head-banging, heart-pounding horror film.
