Earlier this month, we got the exciting scoop that Souheila Yacoub was joining the cast of the upcoming sequel, Evil Dead: Burn. Well, today brings even more awesome updates, with several other stars signing on to face the franchise’s iconic horrors!
Deadline reports that Hunter Doohan (“Wednesday”), Luciane Buchanan (“The Night Agent”), and Tandi Wright (Pearl) are all set to star alongside Yacoub. That’s a seriously solid lineup!
A “Nasty Film” Indeed!
The film is being directed by Sébastien Vaniček, who impressed us all with Infested, and is working from a script he co-wrote with Florent Bernard, also from Infested. While specific plot details are still under wraps, Vaniček recently dropped a very intriguing hint about his vision:
“I told the studio that I wanted to make a nasty film, a film that hurts, from which you come away tested. I’m going to put all the horror I have inside, it will be cathartic, and if I haven’t ruined my career and I can continue to make films behind it, I will move on to something other than horror!”
The Legacy Continues
The franchise is in good hands with creator Sam Raimi. Franchise producer Rob Tapert joins Raimi. They are producing via their banner, Ghost House Pictures. Evil Dead star Bruce Campbell and Evil Dead Rise filmmaker Lee Cronin are on board as executive producers. As are Romel Adam and Jose Canas, both of whom also worked on Evil Dead Rise. It’s great to see so many familiar faces from the franchise’s history involved!
There are whispers that another new movie in the universe is already in early development. And reportedly, writer-director Francis Galluppi (The Last Stop in Yuma County) is at the helm. The Deadite well clearly isn’t running dry anytime soon!
With a killer cast and team, Evil Dead: Burn is set to be a hot new installment of the franchise we all love. It’s slated to hit theaters on July 24, 2026, courtesy of New Line and Warner Bros.
