Netflix is taking subscribers back into The Conjuring universe with an exciting interactive release. Following recent announcements, the streaming giant officially released a trailer for The Conjuring: Unspoken. Headline news for the upcoming Halloween season, this new video game brings interactive terror directly to fans this October.
Transitioning to Interactive Horror
Since director James Wan launched the original film in 2013, the franchise has expanded into a massive cinematic universe. Spanning ten feature films, including major hits like Annabelle and The Nun, the series has grossed over two billion dollars worldwide. While the movies relied on atmospheric tension and sudden jump scares, this new project shifts players from passive observers into active participants facing malevolent entities directly from their couch.
Investigating the Red Lion Inn
Moving away from traditional suburban haunted houses, the narrative introduces a sinister historic location based in England called the Red Lion Inn. Driven heavily by player choices, the gameplay forces you to step into the shoes of demonologist Francesca Noakes. You shape the overall story by choosing different dialogue options throughout the investigation while attempting to help a grieving family in crisis.
Next-Level Ghost Hunting Mechanics
Players use their smartphones as specialized controllers while watching the virtual environment on the big screen. Your mobile phone acts as a spirit box, an electromagnetic field reader, and an infrared camera for finding thermal cold spots. Furthermore, while newcomers can easily jump in, long-time fans will recognize familiar franchise faces and deeper story connections throughout the experience.
Coming Soon
Fans and gamers won’t have to wait long to log in and play. The Conjuring: Unspoken will be available to play on October 13.
