A new film needs to be on your radar: Ramayana: Rise of a Legend. The ambitious cinematic project is officially preparing for a massive global theatrical debut. Director Nitesh Tiwari is helming the two-part Hindi-language mythological feature. Studio executives recently unveiled an official poster confirming the film’s official title, tagline, and premium distribution formats. International moviegoers can experience mankind’s greatest story on the big screen during Diwali weekend.

The Story

The narrative follows Lord Ram’s heroic journey as a noble prince who faces unjust exile from his kingdom. Accompanied by his devoted wife Sita and loyal brother Lakshman, Ram adapts to a humble life inside the dangerous wilderness. However, peace shatters when the formidable ten-headed demon king Raavan abducts Sita and carries her away to his island fortress of Lanka.

Determined to rescue his wife, Ram forms a crucial alliance with the monkey king Sugriva and the mighty warrior Hanuman. Together, they mobilize a massive army to construct a floating stone bridge across the ocean to reach Lanka. The first installment builds toward this legendary confrontation, highlighting Hanuman’s daring search mission, the strategic battle preparations, and the ultimate clash between righteousness and cosmic evil.

Record-Breaking Budget and Production Scale

The two-part cinematic saga features a staggering combined budget of around $500 million. This mythological film is the most expensive Indian film ever made.

Sony Pictures is releasing the first installment in Hindi and English-dubbed versions. The studio also promises the most immersive 3D cinematic experience ever created for global audiences.

Legendary VFX Mastermind Leads Effects

Industry veteran Dan Glass serves as the senior visual effects supervisor for the massive production. The renowned artist brings over twenty-five years of high-level blockbuster experience to the project. Previously, Glass served as production supervisor on massive hits including Batman Begins and the Matrix sequels. He joined award-winning visual effects studio DNEG to lead the complex digital creation. As a result, his expert team brings the expansive mythological world to life on a groundbreaking scale.

A Massive Star-Studded Ensemble Cast

A powerhouse cast of popular Indian talent anchors the sprawling historical adaptation. Actor Ranbir Kapoor stars in the iconic lead role as Lord Ram opposite KGF icon Yash as Raavan. Sai Pallavi portrays Sita, alongside Sunny Deol as the mighty Hanuman. The supporting cast includes Ravi Dubey, Lara Dutta, Arun Govil, Rakul Preet Singh, and Vivek Oberoi.
