Filmmaker Chris LaMartina is officially returning with an exciting new supernatural thriller, Spirit Tasting. The indie horror feature functions as a dark post-punk riff on the classic tale of The Monkey’s Paw. The atmospheric plot follows three former punk musicians reuniting at a distillery on New Year’s Eve. Gathering to toast their late bandmate, the group expects a quiet night of nostalgic storytelling. However, an eccentric sommelier suddenly invites the friends into an exclusive top-shelf liquor tasting session.
A Deadly Price at the Distillery
The mysterious host presents a terrifying catch for sampling the rare alcohol bottles. Each pour requires someone to state a genuine personal wish out loud. As a result, their deepest desires quickly twist into horrifying supernatural doom for everyone involved. As personal secrets surface, the old friends discover that every glass at the Red Bat Distillery carries a lethal price. Soon, the desperate group must navigate terrifying paranormal traps in order to survive past midnight.
Striking Original Key Artwork Unveiled
Producers recently unveiled the official promotional poster art to celebrate the announcement. Renowned artist Marc Schoenbach of Sadist Art Designs created the striking physical artwork for the feature. The specialized design will also appear across all upcoming promotional materials and merchandise. Fans can view the artwork during a nationwide theatrical roadshow tour running from November through January.
A Nationwide Roadshow and Home Media Release
Director Chris LaMartina co-wrote the original screenplay alongside screenwriter Michael Varrati. LaMartina edited the feature and produced alongside Melissa LaMartina, Varrati, and Ted Geoghegan. The production team also includes executive producer Ryan Graveface, who supports the release strategy.
Celebrated horror icon Peaches Christ makes a cameo appearance alongside bestselling author Grady Hendrix and podcaster Henry Zebrowski. The filmmaker and select cast members will also attend live screening stops nationwide for interactive audience Q&As. Physical media collectors can also anticipate a feature-packed Blu-ray release containing a full making-of documentary.
