The Duffer Brothers are back at it! While we’re all still sad about leaving Hawkins, the masterminds behind “Stranger Things” are staying in the supernatural lane with a brand-new Netflix series called “The Boroughs.” Think of it as “Stranger Things” meets “The Golden Girls,” but with way higher stakes and a lot more desert sand.
Golden Years, Dark Secrets
Set in a picturesque retirement community in the New Mexico desert, the story kicks off when a grieving newcomer has a literal “monstrous” encounter.
He teams up with a misfit crew of retirees to uncover a dark secret: something otherworldly is trying to steal the one thing they have the least of—time itself. It turns out their “golden years” are a lot more dangerous than anyone expected, but these seniors are way more formidable than they look.
A Cast of Heavy Hitters
The Duffer Brothers and showrunners Jeffrey Addiss and Will Matthews (The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance) have assembled a certified “Who’s Who” of Hollywood icons!
The series stars Alfred Molina, Geena Davis, Alfre Woodard, Denis O’Hare, Clarke Peters, and Bill Pullman.
The neighborhood features some other incredible names, including “Scream Queen” Dee Wallace, Ed Begley Jr., and Rafael Casal (Loki). Look out for Jane Kaczmarek (Malcolm in the Middle), Eric Edelstein (Twin Peaks), and Mousa Hussein Kraish (American Gods), too.
A Spring Premiere
“The Boroughs” is set to hit the streaming giant, Netflix, on May 21, 2026. So, get ready for pocket candy, monster fighting, and shuffleboard!
