If you thought the cheese grater scene in Evil Dead Rise was uncomfortable, Sébastien Vaniček is here to make sure you never look at your kitchen appliances the same way again. The first trailer for Evil Dead Burn just premiered at CinemaCon in Las Vegas, and it’s safe to say the “Deadite” plague has officially found a way to make suburbia even more hazardous to your health.

The Footage: Domestic Bliss Meets Demonic Blight

The trailer opens with a scene of quiet, domestic mundanity: a mother unloading a dishwasher full of sharp silverware. Naturally, a knock at the door ruins everything. When she opens it, she’s greeted by an undead corpse sporting severed fingers. And in a true feat of “how did that get there?” physics, a car headrest impaled through her skull.

The Deadite casually yanks the headrest out, drops it on the floor, and gets to work. The footage then descends into a chaotic montage: A gnarly car accident flashback explains the headrest and some severed digits. This is followed by a boy being shoved into the open dishwasher, impaling him on the cutlery. To ensure he’s thoroughly “silver-weary,” she jumps on his chest, driving the knives and forks deeper. Brutal.

New Blood Behind the Camera

Creator Sam Raimi is continuing his streak of handing the keys to the kingdom to rising horror visionaries. After seeing his 2024 creature feature Infested, Raimi tapped Sébastien Vaniček to write and direct this latest standalone entry.

Vaniček follows in the footsteps of Fede Álvarez and Lee Cronin, bringing a gritty, visceral energy to the series that leans hard into practical gore and high-tension set pieces.

An Ensemble Worth Fighting For

The cast features a mix of rising stars and genre veterans ready to be covered in red corn syrup. Souheila Yacoub (Dune: Part Two), Hunter Doohan (Wednesday, Daredevil: Born Again), Luciane Buchanan (The Night Agent), Tandi Wright (Pearl), and George Pullar (It Only Takes a Night) star.

Original icon Bruce Campbell is on board as an executive producer alongside Rise director Lee Cronin (director of the upcoming movie The Mummy), ensuring the “Groovy” DNA remains intact—even if Ash is staying behind the scenes for now.

Coming this Summer

With a prime summer release date of July 24, Evil Dead Burn is looking to be the ultimate seasonal scare. It’s loud, it’s bloody, and it’s deeply concerned with household safety. The trailer should be released to the public soon. While you wait, re-watch Evil Dead Rise on HBO Max and Prime Video.
