Sunday’s season 3 finale of Penny Dreadful broke fans hearts. We said good-bye to Vanessa Ives (Eva Green). As Vanessa lay dying, in order to save the world by sacrificing herself at the hands of Ethan (Josh Hartnett), the show died with her. We must now say farewell to an incredible show, it’s cast and it’s amazing characters. Showtime was not responsible for the end of the series. That choice was left to its creator John Logan.

Reeve Carney (Dorian Gray), Timothy Dalton (Sir Malcolm Murray), Rory Kinnear (The Creature), Billie Piper (Lily), Harry Treadaway (Dr. Frankenstein), Simon Russell Beale (Ferdinand), Patti LuPone (Dr. Seward), We Studi (Kaetenay), Shazad Latif (Dr. Jekyll), and many others co-star in this gothic tale of horror, classic monsters, honor, and love.
I will admit, I am disappointed that Penny Dreadful has ended, but I respect Logan’s choice. Many shows continue until they are run into the ground and are former shells of the amazing series they once were. I’m glad that Penny Dreadful ended its run on a high note, with its integrity still intact.
